Waterfalls and caves in Rayong, side by side
The waterfalls and caves most people visit in Rayong all lie in Khao Chamao–Khao Wong National Park, in the east of the province. This page puts them in one place. We compiled it from the national park website and tourism listings, which disagree on some numbers, so we include only what the sources agree on or can be attributed, and ask you to check with the park before you go.
The places compared
| Place | What it is | Best time, per listings |
|---|---|---|
| Khao Chamao Waterfall | 8 tiers, 7 reachable on a trail of about 1.7 km | See our guide |
| Khlong Pla Kang Waterfall | 7 tiers, trail a little over 1 km, several pools, ferns and orchids along the way | Rainy season, when flow is high |
| Khlong Hin Phloeng Waterfall | A small fall with no prominent tiers: smooth rock basins and shallow pools, flowing year-round | Roughly June to November, when the water is fuller |
| Khao Wong caves | A group of about 80 limestone caves, not all open to visitors | Dry and cool months are easier underfoot |
Before you go
- Park status. After the 25 September 2026 flash flood the park closed to tourism and camping on 25–27 September, including Khao Chamao Waterfall, Khlong Pla Kang Waterfall and Khao Wong Cave. As of 7 October 2026 we had found no official reopening date. See the video and sources.
- Rainy season. More water and greener forest, but slippery trails, and the park can close when rain is heavy. The Khao Wong cave trail closes in heavy rain, and in the wet months a ranger must accompany visitors.
- Opening hours and fees. Listings give different hours, so ask the park directly. Khao Chamao entrance fees are in our waterfall guide.
- What to bring. Grippy footwear, drinking water and a bag for your rubbish, as some spots have few facilities.
